Def Jam to gay show: no mam!

The new black gay (read stereotypical) show Noah's Arc airing on the LOGO channel (its gay too) was recently denied by Island Def Jam Music Group use of its music on the show. First, what's up with these gay books and shows and their overtly Biblical titles? This is the same Bible they reject as condemning, right?

Ironically, it was Kanye West's tracks NA requested. West, you remember was the one who had an epiphany about loving homosexuals and eschewing homophobia. Consequently, he issued a stern command to the rest of the hip hop world: "yo, stop it, fam."

Perhaps the show's creators interpreted that as a sign to merge the two warring worlds in their brave new show. Not! Def Jam flat out rejected the request. I can understand why. While I am no fan of the hard core rapistas, I can see why they want nothing to do with the swishy, girlish, effeminate nature of Noah's Arc[see the trailer, if you dare]. The show's four main characters are little more than reverse drag queens. Men acting like women who dress like men? The last episode even had the characters actually do a transvestite musical romp.

And they want Hip Hop tracks behind that kinda of stuff? Its like playing The sound of music behind the Shaft movie.

SOVO has a longer version of the controversy here.

Actually many of us have not rejected the Bible. Loads of us gay folks are Christian, especially Black gay folks. As a Christian I find much inspiration and direction from the Bible. Jesus routinely reached out the people who were oppressed and marginalized, especially when performing miracles.

Also, Noah's Ark is a cultural reference as well as a Biblical one. Many non-Bible believing families embrace the imagery of Noah's Ark in their children's nurseries.

1. Are you saying you are a "black gay Christian?

2. The Bible and "a Christian" are different things. One can reject the Bible and still claim to be "a Christian". To me this characterizes the "gay" Christian movement more than anything. A splicing of true Christianity, by selectively rejecting parts of the Bible which condemn same sex attractions and behavior. You indicate this when you say that people relegate the Bible to cultural imagery. Noah's Ark was about salvation and redemption from a wicked world. The tv show Noah's arc is representative of the very wickedness God chose to destroy. Two VASTLY different things.

3. You cited Jesus reaching out to people via miracles. Why don't you think he could work a miracle by changing your homosexuality?

You seem to approach this whole "ex-gay" thing solely from a Christian perspective. Perhaps you can post something that speaks to those who don't share your faith. I'm sure this isn't an issue that's relegated to one religion...

Well, since only one religion will exist when you leave this earth, I think sharing the Christian perspective is the only way to, since we're instructed by God to spread the gospel and not to spread rumors about false religions.

What is it that's not being comprehended by the non Christian? Is it everything?

Well, I am a Christian, so my worldview is exclusively Christian, but as you said the rejection of homosexuality is prevalent in many beliefs other than Christianity.

Secondly, check out PATH (Positive Alternatives to Homosexuality) www.pathinfo.org for organizations other than Christian.

And for that Muslim perspective check out Straightway http://straightway.sinfree.net/index.htm

How is this post at all "showing the hypocrisy of gays" as you claim this site is for?

I think its grossly hypocritical for homosexual activists to reject the truth about homosexuality from the Bible, but liberally use Biblical imagery in an attempt to validate their immorality. I thought that was pretty clear. But just for you, there it is again.

Secondly, this site can be whatever I want it to be, whenever I want it to be. Its called ownership.

Now that's interesting, because just today a Vatican representative is quoted in the news as expressing a defense of the theory of evolution, stating that it is "perfectly compatible" with the Genesis story of creation.

He goes on to say...

"The fundamentalists (I think that would be you D.L...) want to give a scientific meaning to words that had no scientific aim," and that the real message in Genesis was that "the universe didn't make itself and had a creator".

"The permanent lesson that the Galileo case represents pushes us to keep alive the dialogue between the various disciplines, and in particular between theology and the natural sciences, if we want to prevent similar episodes from repeating themselves in the future."

In other words, the Vatican rejects the literalist view of Genesis. And this is no flaming liberal new age free thinking moral relativist pope they have there now.

And that's pretty much what you have to do if you want to live in this world with your eyes wide open and not going around all the time looking for witches to burn. You know the bible says we shouldn't suffer a witch to live. You think we shouldn't suffer witches to live D.L.?

On the other hand...a lot of protestant fundamentalists think Catholics aren't real Christians. You think that Catholics aren't real Christians? Their bible is a tad different isn't it? So are they adding stuff to the bible that shouldn't be there, or did your church take stuff out that should be there?

You know who heathens are...right? They're the folks in the church across the street.

Bruce,
go home and clean up the mess at your own blog. Its full of profanity, evil disparages against good people and a nastiness that is unparalleled...at least from what I've read. Once you do that you MIGHT have some sort of angle to toss a challenge my way. Otherwise, consider your inquisition over.

I'll grant that I haven't seen any profanity on yours.
