What's next?
Who knows?
One thing is for sure, we have suffered greatly. Im pressed to let you know that even in the vortex of pain we are in, there is one who has gone through a deeper level of suffering and yet stands victoriously.
It seems every time a tragedy strikes it increases in intensity and its scope of human devastation, both emotional and physical. Although tragedy is not new to humanity, many people have not yet learned that the only answer to such suffering is to turn to God and entrust all to him. I applaud the lateral efforts of people to help ease the pain. And yes, in many cases God works through people to bring healing. But we have to remember there is no substitute for our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus.
Clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, getting jobs and health care are all fine and necessary measures to minister to the needs of victims of disasters. But we must remember this is not the basis of salvation. Salvation is predicated upon acceptance of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ. People can get all of the above and more and yet find themselves lost eternally if they do not accept Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
He suffered so that humanity could be free from it greatest prison: sin. No one could have endured the horror he did. If you've forgotten what happened to him read Isaiah 53.
Have you accepted him in your heart? Have you prepared yourself for his soon coming? Are you ready to meet him?
