Sexual Orientation Overload, II

This post will deal more with the gay response to the Bible's teaching about sin and satan. I don't expect much feedback primarily because homosexuals either hate, fear and dismiss the Bible or simply believe that what they do isn't sin, so they "reconcile" their faith and sexuality. Never mind that God doesn't do the reconciling, but they themselves do the reconciling. These positions cripple honest and fruitful discussion of the Bible's clear instruction on homosexual behavior and feelings.

Perhaps that's why homosexuals at exgaywatch are falling over themselves condemning Exodus President Alan Chamber's most recent letter via the organization's newsletter. From what I understand, Chambers wrote about a common struggle between good and evil and what manifestations can occur when good men are silent to the continual challenge of evil.

Daniel Gonzales, an XGW writer rushed the newsletter to the coliseum group under the frenetic heading "Exodus President Alan Chambers Claims Satan Using Gay People to Further His Agenda to "Destroy the Kingdom of God". The gist of Chamber's letter was to reinforce the understanding that we (Christians) are in spiritual warfare and that our enemy the devil is real and employs (unwittingly) people and systems to destroy the work of God. Why would that alarm homosexuals holed up at exgaywatch? Well, for the reasons I mentioned above.
I guess the question is did Alan Chambers launch into an antigay assault because he has some sort of twisted, diabolical mind? Does he hate homosexuals so much that he would concoct a story about the devil and evil just to make homosexuals look bad? Or does the Bible in fact clearly corroborate Chamber's remarks?
First, let's look at some of the responses to the posting:

"I completely disagree with this article in that:
- I do not believe in the entity of god or satan,
- The article is designed as an anti-gay propaganda tool.
- The article is based on a false premise that the entity of god rejects his subjects."

"We are morally free to do whatever we want as long as we don't hurt anyone else. Blindly opposing any one's freedom to choose and be with the person they love most is a sin against fairness and hurts all of society.

"This whole issue infuriates me, especially since I am totally a non-religious person but, I will continue to oppose it and speak out against it because they are dead wrong."

"I was shaking with anger after I read the quote from Alan Chambers."

"I highly resent being referred to as a tool of a mythical character associated with evil: satan."

"...the Exodus agenda espoused by Chambers is a crusading type of mentality and has nothing to do with the true Gospel of Love that Christ taught anciently."

Whew! Enough already.
Enshrined within those few comments (there are many more) is the fear, hate, dismissiveness I mentioned. Also present is the revisionist thinking which cancels out sin and recognizes only the socially correct understanding of "love".

Truth in Love
Now, what does the Bible say? And what does it mean? Does it single out gays as the only potential agents of satan's agenda? Well, the inference at XGW is that Chambers specifically pointed to homosexuals/homosexuality as the supreme agent of satan. He didn't. And neither does the Bible. But Alan's mission is to raise Christian awareness in the spiritual arena to the threat posed by homosexual activism. He wasn't the first to do it. He is just following a long line of people whom God has anointed to be "watchmen" on the wall.

  • Jude 1:3,4
"Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. 4For certain men whose condemnation was written about[b] long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
  • Ephesian 6:10-12
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
  • 2 Peter 2:6-12
6if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 10This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings; 12But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
  • 1 Peter 5:8
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Compare the scripture to what Alan Chambers wrote: "Satan, the enemy is using people to further his agenda to destroy the Kingdom of God and as many souls as he can. Our job is simple: wage war against the Kingdom of Darkness and save souls."
Yet because of those honest, commonly taught words in the Church of Jesus Christ, homosexuals at exgaywatch are angry, in denial, defending immorality, and grossly mischaracterizing the intent of Christ's earthly mission.
Yet, when confronted with clear truth they offer only slander...
"Behind that greasy "smile" of Chambers lies a variety of sociopath."
"The Gospel of Timothy says that Jesus was a punk murderer as a child."
"That book is The Fallible Word of People. It was written a long time ago by people who had a lot of superstitions and prejudices."

Mr. Foster seeing as you quoted me from XGW let me point out that fairness is my faith and there is nothing about my sexuality that needs to be reconciled with that.

There have been thousands of religons over the millenia and I'm sure you'll agree that at best only one of them might be inerrantly correct. It is the historical nature of religions to be false, what rational reason do you have to believe your religion is any different from all the others? If you had been born in Saudi Arabia, Japan, or India do you honeslty think you'd have come to believe anyway that Christianity is the correct religion?

I knew that you couldnt discuss the merits of scripture. Is that the hate, fear and dismissiveness rearing its ugly head? Instead, you bring up insignificant peripheral issues that have nothing to do with the price of tea in China. You might as well had asked what came first the chicken or the egg? LOL

By the way DL, nothing is more pertinent to discussing the merits of your scripture than whether or not the religion is a fake like all the other religions out there. Obviously you don't care if its true or not, that's your story and you're sticking to it. Anyone that won't consider all the possiblities can never know the truth. And the truth is the odds are at least thousands to one against your particular religion being the inerrant truth. Not to say that there may not be some merit in some of it, but that each belief has to be skeptically considered seperately.

    Ding! Ding! Ding!
See, that's what I have been saying all along. Homosexuals who cant/wont consider or acknowledge the possibilities of change will never change. Its a matter of the mind. Call it trapped in a lie.

Thanks Randi, youre one swell guy/girl? to figure that out.

    uhhh mr.picador
Im curious to know how you identify people of my "ilk" as you put it? This is a bigot test. And I wonder if you are just like the ilk at exgaywatch?

"It would be as pointless as accusing you of refusing to discuss the merits of the Bhagavad-Gita or the Elder Eddas."

Hmmmm, let's see...excuse #999. Hate and fear of the scriptures will do that to you. Call it Biblephobia. Looks like all you and ALL your pals at exgaywatch are infected big time. They hate it so much and fear it so deeply they cant even bring themselves to discuss it. I dont believe in the Koran, but I can discuss the merits of the verses based on my reading of them. But too bad fear and hate has crippled and stunted your efforts to intelligently discuss the Word of God. The reciprocity of the essence of God and his Word are inseperable. John 1:1 You cant love or believe in God and hate and fear his word. If you say you do, youre a liar.

Hence, the point of my post. Youre groveling in the dark over Alan Chambers statements. Why? In a word youre blind and deceived. That's why youre so easily "offended" at the truth. Thats why you try to be "personal" by citing examples of your live-in male roomate.

picador, be man enough to admit you cant handle the truth. Maybe, just maybe if you can get to that simple point, your life wont be wasted. And watch out the bull has sharp horns.

    Hmmmmmm, that's news to me.
